As Western Australia heads closer to winter, a local charity group has created a thermal suit to protect the increasing number of people sleeping rough from the harsh elements.

Press PLAY to hear about the thermal suit’s innovative features.

Owen Farmer, co-founder of Safer Lyfe and a homelessness advocate who has been homeless himself, explained the suit’s innovative features to 6PR Weekends host Chrissy Morrissy.

He noted the waterproof suit is breathable, has a comfort range between 0 and 10 degrees and is designed both to be worn over clothes and to store the person’s valuables.

“The suit was invented and made for the rough sleeper so when they get moved on they can just get up and go, they don’t have to worry about their belongings or anything like that, because it is all underneath them,” he said.
