Dr Jane Younger, an ecologist at the University of Tasmania, told 6PR Mornings host Chrissy Morrissy that the 1000-kilogram seal lacks a colony and that while his destructive behaviour is normal for a seal, it creates challenges in a human environment.

“He’s not even reached sexual maturity yet, so his maximum size is three-and-a-half tonnes. So he will get bigger, and he could become more of a menace in the future”, she said.
