More older Australians now view immigration as good for the country, a new study reveals, with numbers rising sharply over the past five years, but it also finds our overall sense of belonging and national pride is at a 15-year low.

Dr James O’Donnell, a demographer from the Australian National University and the author of the report, told Millsy & Karl on 6PR Breakfast that we should feel a little worried but due to COVID we probably feel closer to our neighbourhoods, if not the nation.

“The big issues that people are telling us about, housing, climate change and the environment and those big economic issues … trust in government is coming down now,” he told the boys.
