A single mum of four has been told she may have to wait five years for a home for her and her children after their house was destroyed by fire last week.

Kristine Meakins was given the unfortunate news despite being put on the Department of Communities priority housing list.

She told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live she’s doing all she can to ensure her kids have a roof over their heads.

“At the end of the day, what are you supposed to do? You’ve got to do everything you can to make sure they’re as safe as they possibly can be,” Ms Meakins said.
