6PR Weekends host Chrissy Morrissy has criticised the federal government for failing to prevent banks from charging card transaction fees to small businesses.

She noted that her local cafe raised the price of coffee by 50¢ – an 11 per cent increase – which the owner attributed to ongoing bank charges for card processing.

“Mr Albanese isn’t correct … The surcharge has disappeared, but the cost hasn’t,” she said.
