Move over Hollywood: ground broken on WA’s world-beating film studios

Perth’s first-ever television and production studios are now in the process of construction, with the hopes of pulling some Hollywood magic back home.

The Cook Government is investing more than $230 million to the project, which will include four purpose-built sound stages, an art department, workshops and a highly sought-after backlot.

Two billion dollars is spent in Australia each year by national and international productions.

Premier Roger Cook says his government’s investment will help WA receive a bigger slice of that pie – and grow WA’s screen industry.
