For years Mission Australia WA has been putting on a free Christmas lunch in the city to help those in need.

Run by volunteers, yesterday’s lunch saw thousands of people turn up to celebrate Christmas, with Santa making a special appearance.

Mission Australia Christmas state director Sue Budalich told 6PR Breakfast the lunch is all about companionship.

“It’s our opportunity to put together a lovely lunch and provide companionship,” said Ms Budalich.

“It’s just a time when we can forget about the worries of the world and come together.” She continued.
