The Federal Government has rejected any notion of changes in the Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme would adversely affect the public, calling claims it would lead to drug abuse “grossly irresponsible”.

Health Minister Mark Butler told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings

“I’m not going to respond to such a grossly irresponsible accusation,” Mr Butler said.

“I didn’t choose the pharmacy lobby or the AMA’s side’ I listened to the experts and came down on a position I think is in the best interests of Australian patients.”
