McGowan urges calm, predicts COVID-19 cases to soon reach 1000 in WA

Premier Mark McGowan urged Western Australians not to panic as the state recorded 610 new local COVID-19 cases overnight.
Mr McGowan said businesses could face outbreaks among their employees, disrupted supply chains and less enthusiasm from customers to leave home as he predicted WA’s daily case numbers to soon hit 1000.
“It is clear cases are rising in the community, but this is not a reason to panic,” he said.
The Premier said the Omicron spread could be contained through current Level 1 restrictions now in place but urged people to do the right thing.
Mr McGowan, pictured below with Luna Palace managing director Ingrid Van Den Berghe, announced a new $67 million small business package, with up to $6000 in support grants and counselling services.
He also confirmed WA’s largest Aboriginal community, Bidyadanga, was in lock down after 17 active cases emerged there, 180km south of Broome, today.
Liam Bartlett told listeners on 6PR Mornings that COVID-19 is “well and truly” in the community.
