Lord Mayor accuses McGowan for ‘pattern of contempt’ against City of Perth

The Perth Lord Mayor claims there’s a pattern of contempt from the State Government by failing to include the City of Perth in numerous City Deal events and announcements.
The McGowan Government is holding a sod-turning ceremony this morning to mark the beginning of works for the Causeway Pedestrian Bridge between Victoria Park and the CBD.
Basil Zempilas told Gary Adshead ratepayers raised concerns about why the Lord Mayor wasn’t being invited to various press conferences involving the City of Perth.
“It’s not about invitations or photo opportunities -it’s about recognition of the City’s support for the City deal, our ratepayers are invested in this deal,” Mr Zempilas said.

A Government spokesperson says the Lord Mayor wasn’t invited to this morning’s ceremony because it’s happening in the Town of Victoria Park and the City hasn’t contributed any money to the project.
