Long-awaited news school camps are able to resume in term two after being cancelled earlier this year has been met with mixed emotion.

While those who run camps are happy they can resume, the damage has already been done for many businesses with out-of-work staff seeking new career opportunities.

There are also new COVID restrictions in place.

Graeme Watson owns Forest Edge Recreation Camp and told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that although the announcement was exciting, he believes it came too late.

“The timing of the announcement wasn’t really thought out,” he said.

“Making the announcement in the second week of the school holidays doesn’t allow schools time to plan a camp.”
