Liberal senator Dean Smith has hit out at the minister for mines and petroleum, Bill Johnston after the minister accused him of lying about issues surrounding the Perth Mint.

Smith says the minister and the government has attempted to gaslight Western Australians over “compliance issues” Smith claims AUSTRAC found with the Perth Mint.

“I think what Bill Johnston is attempting to do here, and I hope Western Australians will see through it, is sort of create his own narrative – a narrative that suits him and the WA government,” he told Gary Adshead.
