Got some old Lego sets at home? You could make a small fortune.

Researchers at Moscow’s School of Economic found Lego sets which are no longer in production rose by 11 per cent per year between 1987 and 2015 — faster than gold.

Adam Gardner, a member of the WA Lego Society, runs a Lego blog called Casa De Bricks and said the Cosmic Cruiser set cost $11 back in 1982, and now sells for around $650.

“If you pick the right sets you can absolutely make a fortune,” he said on 6PR Mornings.

He said there was a lot of demand for original Lego.

Caller Lloyd said he has an unopened chess Lego set from the 1980s.
