Another private maternity service in WA is shutting down – Saint John of God has confirmed its Bunbury campus won’t be available to expectant parents from July.

Staff shortages and cost cutting have led to a number of hospitals removing their obstetric wards in the past twelve months.

There are now only four private hospital options in the metropolitan area and Mandurah – and Saint John of God Geraldton will become the only regional maternity campus in the state.

Australian Nursing Federation State Secretary Janet Reah told Gary Adshead onĀ 6PR Mornings it’s fallout form the State Governent’s failure to support nurses and midwives, and there will be more closures in future.
