Beauy discussed the lasting legacy Pilgrim left on the sport with crew members Mark Franks and Ron Chell.
Mark recalled, “If you couldn’t win, be spectacular was his sort of saying and he was certainly spectacular.”
The crew also reminisced about the Claremont Speedway, which closed 25 years ago.
Mark shared a vivid memory: “Claremont started in October, just after the Royal show, and we had to pit in the horse stalls and the pig stalls and it didn’t smell very flash I can tell you, for the first few weeks of speedway, and the ground wasn’t level, and there was dirt, but it had an aura.”
