Katanning developers facing a 12 month wait for new power

Katanning developers David Harries and wife Julie are attempting to address a major issue… and it might not be what you think.

The local residents of the zero per cent rental vacancy rate town of Katanning, are facing a major obstacle of connecting power to their property.

Rather than going through the state’s electricity provider Western Power, the couple have decided to curb the bill and opt for an off-grid solar connection.

David Harries spoke on 6PR Afternoons with Jo McManus saying the expected wait time was around 12 months.

“After we got the development approval from the shire I engaged with a local electrician and he said we’d need extra power on the property and was going to take us 12 months,” he said.
