Kalgoorlie syndicate strikes gold with $63 million Powerball win

Lotto luck has found its way over the border in Western Australia again, with a local syndicate collecting a half share of the division one $127 million Powerball on Thursday night.
Kalgoorlie woman Nardia was one of the 250 people in the City News Kalgoorlie syndicate that will share in division one riches of $63 million in last night’s record jackpot.
The life-changing win continues a dream run of big prizes for WA Lotto players and 6PR’s connection with recent jackpot winners, after 55 women from a Belridge gym scooped $80m in Powerball last year.
Gym syndicate member Lorna previously won a car through 6PR Breakfast’s ‘John Hughes Rumour File’ competition, while Nardia’s son Mitch is a sports reporter at the station.
She told Gareth Parker on Friday morning the win would change the lives of many in the syndicate, nicknamed ‘Goldfields Pay Off Their Mortgage’.
“There are people from all walks of life in this syndicate … people were more excited that they’re sharing it with a whole lot of people,” she said.
The ‘Rumour File’ was earlier told one member of the Kalgoorlie syndicate is a WA football identity.
