‘Just cut it out’: Gareth Parker condemns AMA over fearmongering

The WA branch of the Australian Medical Association has again been accused of catastrophising Western Australia’s current COVID-19 situation.
WA president Mark Duncan-Smith was criticised by 6PR Breakfast host Gareth Parker after suggesting there were 10 times the number of Omicron cases in the community than was being reported.
“It seems they cannot help themselves,” said Parker, after criticising the branch last week over calls to increase restrictions across WA.
“If there were really 10 times the level of COVID cases in the community, as has been suggested, you’d see people presenting at WA hospital emergency departments.
“How many people do we have in hospital emergency departments with COVID? One… one.”
The state recorded 13 new local cases on Tuesday, with infections related to known clusters, while five were mystery cases.
