Popular Australian singer John Farnham is in a stable condition facing a long recovery in hospital after successfully undergoing a mammoth surgery to remove a cancerous tumour.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford revealed on 6PR Breakfast the 73-year-old had “part of his jaw removed” as part of his marathon 12-hour surgery.

“The surgery was in two parts, the first was the removal of the tumour of his mouth, which is a very delicate operation obviously,” he said.

“And then after that was done, almost immediately the reconstructive team moved in because John did have to have, I’m told, a major part of his jaw removed.”
