Jim Chalmers ‘the worst Australian treasurer’ in 50 years, according to economist
Economist Steven Hamilton has labelled Jim Chalmers “the worst Australian treasurer since Jim Cairns” and the Federal Labor government “the most economically incompetent in half a century”.
Mr Hamilton – an economics professor from George Washington University – spoke to 6PR Mornings host Gary Adshead and said Chalmers’ was the “only thing” standing between the Reserve Bank and getting the job done.
“We (Australia) are more or less the only advanced country that still has elevated inflation,” Mr Hamilton said.
