It has been revealed that nearly 10,000 children are on a waiting list to see a paediatrician in metropolitan Perth.

WA Liberal Leader Libby Mettam told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live, “It’s outrageous, and it’s up from just over 6,000 children this time last year.”

“What’s incredible is that the interim report, which was tabled last year in November, highlighted the need for additional funding for this service so, it has explicitly spelt out the need for additional funding to recruit more critical staff.”

“The Minister for Health responds that she’ll wait for the final report, which wont be until later this year, and it begs the question: In a state as wealthy as ours, how can this government say we will wait for the final report? It’s completely unacceptable,” Ms Mettam said.
