‘It’s a really difficult situation’: Surgeons still missing amidst ‘constant’ Gaza violence

Orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Tim Keenan has dedicated himself to volunteering for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. Now, he has shifted his focus to supporting the families of his ‘missing’ colleagues in Gaza.

Dr. Keenan told Chrissy Morrissy on 6PR Afternoons, It’s always been a constant thing for the poor people in Gaza, but this latest thing is complete destruction of a lot of the areas, and in particular the hospitals and the healthcare.

“The staff in the Nasser Hospital, which is in the middle of Gaza, they’ve been in there since the conflict started in October, and never been home. Now, the hospital has been destroyed and they’ve largely been arrested and no one quite knows where they’ve got to. But their families are still there.

“The Australian Government has offered them tourist visas, which I think is a little unusual. But then they’ve said the tourist visas are uncompliant, so it’s a very difficult situation,” Dr Keenan said.
