An after the siren goal from Carlton’s Jack Newnes has handed the Blues a 4 point victory over the Dockers.

Fremantle led on the scoreboard throughout most of the game but in a tight final quarter the Blues were able to edge ahead when it mattered most after a contentious down-field free kick was given.

Hard pressed up on the boundary line – Newnes kept a cool head sparking scenes of celebrations from the Blues and anger from others over the decision.

The game saw the return of Michael Walters after a hamstring injury, Andrew Brayshaw play his 50th match while Rory Lobb clocked up his 100th.

The final score:

Fremantle 5.6 (36)

Carlton 5.10 (40)
