Ita packing 300km/h punch

The far north Queensland town of Cooktown is bracing itself for destructive winds of up to 300 kilometers an hour from cyclone Ita, which is expected to cross the coast at around 10pm tonight. Gary Adshead spoke to Cooktown Mayor Peter Scott.
Cyclone ITA is expected to make landfall in far north-Queensland tonight – packing winds of up to 300-kilometres an hour.
The Weather Bureau says the category five system will strike between Cooktown and Cape Melville.
It’s currently about 200 kilometres north-northeast of Cooktown – and CLINT from a local Cafe says – the it’s a ghost-town –
