One year after West Coast Drive reduced its speed to 40km per hour, Perth Today host Simon Beaumont is questioning the necessity of the reduction.

Mark Irwin, City of Stirling Mayor, explained to Simon that it was essential for pedestrian safety in the area.

“There wasn’t so much support there for the reduction in speed but it was essential to ensure that if we are going to put pedestrian crossings in there it’s safe for people to cross,” he said.
