The Australian Securities and Investments Commission temporarily banned certain pet insurance policies this week over concerns they could be targeting and manipulating vulnerable customers.

ASIC banned insurance from companies including Woolworths, Petbarn, the RSPCA and more for less than a day before the companies reportedly addressed the issues.

Swanbourne Vet Centre’s Tony Vigano told Karl and Gena on 6PR Breakfast consumers should be careful about what policies they purchase.

“I think that, like with most things, people should read the instructions and work through the list of exclusions,” Dr Vigano said.
