Long Covid is real, and it’s not fun for anyone dealing with it. 

But recent studies have found the rate of long Covid is far lower than it has previously been believed.

Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr Clay Golledge told Oli Peterson on Perth Live that professionals aren’t saying it doesn’t exist, they’re saying it’s far less common than it has been reported.

“Any respiratory however, be it influenza, RSV, parainfluenza can cause persistent symptoms and cough,” Dr Golledge said.

“We do see it in COVID but its nothing like the 20 per cent of incidents purported to have occurred. Reality, it may be 1-3 per cent.”

“We’re not saying it doesn’t exist we’re saying is far less common than it’s reported.”
