Influx of imported cars shuts down Peter Hughes Drive

Peter Hughes Drive, the internal road within Fremantle Port, has been shut down as the Port struggles to make space for an influx of imported cars.
Spokesperson for Fremantle Port, Neil Stanbury, told 6PR Breakfast it’s been a bumper year for car imports.
“We’ve needed every bit of space on Victoria Quay to discharge cargo onto,” he said.
“So people in Fremantle particularly will have noticed that our road, Peter Hughes Drive, we’ve closed it for about a week, just so we can put cars coming off these RORO ships on to Peter Hughes Drive and use it as storage space.”
