The Newport Hotel will call last drinks on December 24, before it undergoes extensive renovations to become a “darts bar”.

David Heaton, licensee at The Newport Hotel, said the works will maintain the heritage feeling of the building.

“It’s a beautiful old building,” he said on 6PR Breakfast.

“But unfortunately as the new kids are coming through, tastes have changed, and the Newport needs to change.”

The works are expected to be completed in May next year.
