Teal Independent Kate Chaney admits she’s ‘changed her mind’ on the live sheep export industry, after being inundated with feedback on the issue from her constituents.

The Member for Curtin joined Oliver Peterson on Perth Live to explain why she has now voted in Federal Parliament against a ban on the industry.

“This has been a really, really tricky issue because lots of people in my community feel very strongly one way or another, so we’ve literally had hundreds of contacts from people in both directions,” she said.

“I did change my mind on it and changing your mind is pretty hard.”

The Albanese Government’s plan to phase out the industry by May 2028 now heads to the Senate.
