There are calls for truck drivers to drop the “courtesy indicate” due to safety concerns.

The courtesy indicate is a signal from truck drivers to vehicles behind them that it’s safe to overtake.

However, police sergeant Bernie Macconachie told 6PR Breakfast it’s not safe.

“The ultimate responsibility of being on the road and being a responsible driver comes back to the person in charge of the motor-car,” she said.

“You can’t leave that responsibility to someone else.”
