There are calls for gambling advertisements to be phased out the same way tobacco advertisements were in the 70s.

Historian and social scientist from Cancer Council Victoria Dr Thomas Kehoe told Jo McManus on 6PR Afternoons there is no need for gambling to be tied to sport.

“It’s youth affected and youth-targeted,” said Dr Kehoe.

“Young people start thinking gambling and sport are synonymous.”
