Actress Deborra-Lee Furness is humbled after receiving one of the highest honours on Australia Day.

Deborra was awarded the Officer (AO) of the Order of Australia for her work in the area of adoption.

Her organisation Adopt Change aims to give children a forever home and works towards providing access to a safe and stable family upbringing.

The actress told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast she was honoured to be in such amazing esteemed company”.

“I really had compassion for the parents trying to adopt but my heart went to the kids who were not finding homes due to bureaucracy,” she said.
