A lucky WA man has been reunited with his wedding ring after he lost it in the ocean 18 months ago.

Richard had the precious item returned after it was found by amateur metal detectorist Jeff Hudson.

Jeff was in chest deep water when his metal detector went off and after a few scoops recovered the ring.

He was able to make out a “makers mark” on the ring and returned it to the jeweller – Mark Cox Jewellery in Geraldton, who then posted the discovery on social media.

Richard’s wife, Jacqui, then saw the post.

“We didn’t really expect it to see it again,” she said on 6PR Breakfast.

“It’s something that’s more sentimental than the actually value of it, it was exciting, definitely, to find it again.”
