Gareth Parker fires broadside over AMA ‘fearmongering’

The president of the WA branch of the Australian Medical Association Mark Duncan-Smith has been slammed by 6PR Breakfast host Gareth Parker after claiming the state could experience a peak of up to 60,000 cases of COVID-19 a day if restrictions were not brought in immediately.
Parker said the comments were out of line and the AMA was “now doing more harm than good”.
“How on earth could we get to 60,000 cases a day?” Parker asked, pointing to numbers in NSW, which had recorded more than 60,000 cases a day only twice, despite its eight million-plus population, while Victoria had recorded none.
“Who’s interest does the constant fearmongering serve?
“Yes we’re going to face serious challenges, yes they’re going to need to be worked through.
“But how do wild, doom-laden projections help anyone?”
