‘Horrifying’: 6000 WA kids waiting to see a paediatrician

A question put to the Leader of the House representing Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson in State Parliament yesterday later revealed almost 6000 WA children are on a waiting list to see a paediatrician.
This came hot on the heels of reports there were average wait times at Perth Children’s Hospital of more than a year for ear, nose and throat surgery. Oher wait times at the kids’ hospital include:
- 140 days for neurosurgery
- 243 days for ophthalmology
- 142 days for cardiothoracic
“The response from the government is completely unsatisfactory… it’s horrifying to think about kids with serious developmental issues that just can’t get the help they need, when they need it,” WA Liberal leader David Honey told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings.
