The CEO of the Pedestrian Council of Australia Harold Scruby accused a parliamentary committee of coming up with “pathetic recommendations” as a response to the government’s inquiry into electric vehicles.
“Your police commissioner, the first thing he said was ‘we’ve got to get e-scooters off the footpath’. So what? What did the parliamentary committee recommend? Nothing,” he told 6PR Perth Live.
“They will not mention road trauma or road safety, and it kills more people than all the guns and knives in Australia; they won’t mention it. We’ve got no champions for road safety in Australia,” he added.
