Holiday plans being cancelled as travellers anticipate border closures

Passenger numbers on airplanes are dwindling just a few days out from Christmas as travellers cancel holiday plans under the looming threat of border closures.
It comes as the National Cabinet meet today to discuss the national response to the ongoing threat of Omicron – the highly transmissible COVID-19 variant.
CEO of the Australian Airports Association, James Goodwin said it’s important states hold their nerve.
“We’ve got to keep those border reopening plans steady,” he said on 6PR Mornings.
“We’ve got to bring back the consumer confidence.
“The tourism, the hospitality sectors, and really the overall economy is so reliant on aviation having that confidence both business travel as well as leisure travel as well.”
