Former Treasurer Joe Hockey says despite aggressive behaviour from China, putting tariffs on iron ore would just punish everyday Australians.

In his chat with Jo McManus, Mr Hockey also clarified there was no deal between him and former Prime Minister Tony Abbott to take his job when he was Treasurer.
