The arson squad are investigating a blaze at the heritage-listed Lamont’s Bishops House on Mounts Bay Road in the CBD.

Smoke was seen coming from the building at around 10:30pm on Sunday night, with fire crews arriving a short time later.

It took fire crews half-an-hour to bring the blaze under control.

It’s being treated as suspicious.

6PR reporter Kelly Haywood told Gareth Parker investigators have described the building as “fully smoke logged”.

“It means there was no flames inside the building, but there will be quite a bit of smoke damage inside that building.

“I’ve managed to see some of the damage, it doesn’t look to extensive, it seems to be contained to the outside in a lower level.”
