‘Here we go again’: Adshead laments government housing black hole
Commentators including 6PR’s own Gary Adshead have lambasted the State Government’s latest announcement of more funding to prop up the catastrophic housing supply, labelling the decision more of the same thing.
Premier Mark McGowan and Housing Minister John Carey announced a $511 million “injection” to boost housing supply as part of the 2023-24 State Budget.
Master Builders WA Executive Director John Gelavis told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings they had passed on a raft of recommendations to government, and they would like to see many things done that aren’t being represented in budget so far.
“I think the supply side constraints are the big issue at the moment… we’d like to see an approach [based] on value rather than cost, and there needs to be cost escalation clauses to protect the builder as well,” Mr Gelavis said.
