Carmel Hill, a 15 year volunteer and the vice president of the historic Yarloop Workshops, fled the stricken town on Thursday.

Today, she woke in a Bunbury motel to heartbreaking news: the Workshops and Carmel’s home had been destroyed by fire.

Up to 95 homes, as well as historic buildings in the town, have been razed and three people are missing.

Carmel bravely told her story to Gareth Parker on the 6PR Morning Show.
