Health workers not shocked by sector’s “existential threat”

Simon Beaumont

The mental health  sector has admitted a distinct lack of resourcing is creating an environment in which issues such as preventable deaths and alleged rapes are happening.

AMA WA President Michael Page told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the thought of an “existential threat” to mental health support is of course concerning to staff.

“It’s not something that we’re just making up for fun as clinicians,” Dr Page said.

“Clearly, clinicians are burning out; clearly patient outcomes are going to worsen as we see this crisis unresolved.”
