Prime Minister Tony Abbott says he doesn’t want to interfere with plans to increase the cost of private health insurance.

Premiums are set to rise by up to seven percent in April, more than three times the rate of inflation.

Mr Abbott says while the government has the power to veto the plan in the end it’s a commercial decision.
