Has the wildflower season in WA disappeared this year?

Wildflower lovers in Perth may find the flowers are not as vividly in bloom this year.

Although different species of wildflowers are still blooming, a cold winter has resulted in these flowers looking less vibrant.

Director of Western Australian Botanic Garden Sue McDougall told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast it is too late in the season to fix the problem.

“It is too late, 100 ml of rainfall over the year and it hasn’t rained at the right time,” Ms McDougall said.

“Those towns that have based their tourism on wildflowers are really struggling.”
