Has long service leave become redundant?

Jamie Burnett

Victoria Mills, Workplace coach and founder of Hello Coach believes long service leave has become outdated for the Gen Z and Millennial workforce due to many not staying in the same job for long enough.

Ms Mills told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that the recent generations coming into the workforce, only stay in their job for as little as two years.

“Get this, they are expected to have over 18 jobs and 6 careers in their lifetime, it’s changed dramatically, the work landscape.”

“We have seen in the latest research that people are really wanting value and purpose, and are wanting a coach for professional development whereas two or three years ago they were asked on their career succession path and the income but people’s values have shifted.”
