New, sophisticated devices being used by hackers are allowing thieves to steal cars with more ease than ever before.

One of the most common techniques involves amplifying the signal between a remote key lock and the vehicle, giving access without ever needing the key itself.

Beau Dean from Aus Security Products told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings there’s a race between hackers and security experts over vehicle security.

“The number of thefts is increasing dramatically; car manufacturers are aware of this and they are taking steps but it’s a cat-and-mouse game,” Mr Dean said.
