It’s all hands on deck at Optus Stadium for tomorrow’s AFL grand final.

About 26,000 staff will be working at the once in a lifetime event with some outside venues also helping to boost staff levels.

Stadium CEO Mike McKenna told Gareth Parker he never expected a Perth grand final to become a reality.

“We talked about these sorts games in the context of the sorts of things we could attract.

“We wanted to make sure the world knew this stadium was going to be a place you could bring the very biggest events.

“To actually believe it would ever happen here, it never entered our thoughts.”

Footy fans heading to the season decider tomorrow are being urged to plan their journey to the stadium, with more than 60,000 people expected to descend on the stadium.

Mr McKenna said gates will open at 12:45pm.

“Come and enjoy the feeling on the peninsula and make it part of your day.

“Come and have a look at the activations around the stadium then get to your seats early.

“See the full experience.”

Public transport is free for everyone with a ticket.
