Government backflips on Perth Mint management

The WA State Government took time during yesterday’s total solar eclipse to announce a review of the Perth Mint, one which could potentially lead to its sale.

As reported on during Perth Live with Oliver Peterson yesterday,  the state opposition almost immediately responded to the announcement by saying Labor is “taking out the trash” and foregoing responsibility for the mint’s issues, despite having defended it numerous times.

Gary Adshead said on 6PR Mornings the government’s announcement was eerily similar to what the opposition has been asking for months during Question Time in relation to the Perth Mint dramas.

“It is the federal financial transaction’s watchdog – AUSTRAC – that suggested money laundering might have occurred,” Mr Adshead said.
