Gladys Berejiklian resigns as NSW Premier

Gladys Berejiklian has resigned.
The NSW Premier announced on Friday she would be stepping down from the role immediately.
She said the timing “couldn’t be worse” but she had little choice.
It comes after the NSW corruption watchdog announced it will investigate whether she breached public trust or encouraged the occurrence of corrupt conduct during her secret relationship with disgraced former MP Daryl Maguire.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption on Friday issued a statement confirming it would hold a public inquiry from Monday, October 18.
Reporter Clinton Maynard told Mark Gibson on 6PR Afternoons it was a “bombshell to many, but maybe not to some.”
“There has been strong mail, since the start of this year that, that ICAC was not done with Gladys Berejiklian, and that she may be forced out of his job this year, and that is exactly what has transpired today.”
